What is a Cavity?
Smiles on Souris uses state-of-the-art technology to detect cavities.
What is a cavity?
A cavity is caused when bacteria gets inside the tooth and begins to eat away at it. It is an infection in your tooth which can rot away the tooth and spread toxins into the body. Cavities can cause serious issues if the decay continues to infect the body. Our patients’ complete health is important to us at Signature Smiles. Beyond the management of your cavities we will assess the root of the issue including taking into account your genetic background and your nutrition and dietary habits. Understanding the underlying causes of your cavities can help us to better understand how to help you avoid developing cavities in the first place.
DID YOU KNOW that tooth decay can be linked to chronic childhood illnesses!
Tooth decay primarily occurs in children and young adults. The combinations of bacteria, food debris, and saliva form plaque. Without proper brushing and flossing the decay process begins to weaken and dissolve the enamel creating holes in the teeth. They are referred to cavities and are typically painless until they grow closer to the nerve or centre of the tooth.
We diagnose tooth decay in a number of ways:-Digital Radiography-Oral Examination-Transillumination-Laser Cavity Detection (Diagnodent)
Smiles on Souris is committed to keeping your teeth and your body healthy. We use the latest technology which allows us to detect decay in the earliest stages, saving and preserving precious enamel. Along with our dental instruments and digital x-rays, we use the Diagnodent, which is a laser that can detect softening in the enamel when it is still very small. When decay is detected, our dentists use only the best materials to restore your teeth to health.
